Terms and Conditions of Membership

By applying to join Amicus you agree to be bound by these Terms together with the Amicus Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy. GCF is a company registered in England and Wales. Registered address: 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ.

1. Membership eligibility

Amicus is open to legal professionals and those working in or studying towards a career in law. All applications are subject to review and approval by GCF. We reserve the right to decline any application without giving reasons. Corporate seat holders must be nominated by an employer holding a valid GCF Corporate Membership. If a corporate membership lapses, seat holders may be offered the option to transition to individual membership. 

2. Membership types and fees 

Founding membership 

Available at £200/year during the founding member window (April–July 2026). This rate is locked for the lifetime of the membership provided it remains active and in good standing. 

  •  Corporate seats 

Governed by the Corporate Membership Agreement between GCF and the employer. 

  •  Payment and renewal 

Fees are payable annually in advance. Membership renews automatically. You will be notified at least 14 days before renewal. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law. 

3. Your obligations 

As a member you agree to: 

  • Provide accurate information and keep your profile up to date 
  • Comply with the Amicus Community Guidelines at all times 
  • Not share your login credentials with any other person 
  • Not use Amicus for any unlawful purpose 
  • Comply with your professional obligations as a legal professional 

4. Our obligations 

GCF will use reasonable endeavours to provide access to the Amicus platform in accordance with your membership type, maintain platform security, and give reasonable notice of material changes to these Terms or the platform. 

 We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Access may be suspended for maintenance or reasons outside our control.

5. Intellectual property

All GCF-created content on Amicus is our intellectual property. You may not reproduce or share it outside Amicus without our prior written consent. 

 Content you post remains yours. By posting you grant GCF a non-exclusive licence to use it within Amicus and GCF communications. 

 6. Liability

GCF is not responsible for the accuracy of member-shared information, the quality of peer advice, or outcomes from connections made through Amicus. 

 GCF is not liable for any loss of profits, revenue, business, contracts, anticipated savings, goodwill, or data, or any indirect or consequential loss of any kind.  

Our total liability to you shall not exceed the membership fees you paid in the 12 months before the relevant claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

7. Termination

  • By you 

You may cancel at any time by emailing amicus@globalcounselforum.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current membership year. No refund will be issued for the remaining period. 

  •  By GCF 

We may suspend or terminate your membership if you breach these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or if your conduct brings GCF into disrepute. Serious breaches may result in immediate termination. 

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will give you at least 30 days’ notice of any material change. Continued use of Amicus after the effective date of a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. 

9. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and GCF relating to your Amicus membership and supersede all prior representations, warranties, and understandings, whether written or oral. 

 Neither party relies on any statement or representation not set out in these Terms. Nothing in this clause limits liability for fraud. 

 10. General

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary. The remainder of these Terms shall continue in full force. A failure to exercise any right shall not constitute a waiver. These Terms do not confer any rights on third parties under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. 

 11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Each party irrevocably submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales for all disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms, including non-contractual disputes.
