Why In-House Counsel Tech Adoption Matters in 2026
Legal technology is reshaping the way in-house legal teams operate across the UK and Europe. From contract automation and AI-assisted due diligence to matter management platforms and e-billing tools, the pace of change is accelerating. Yet adoption rates — and the barriers to adoption — vary significantly across organisations, sectors and legal team sizes.
For in-house counsel networking communities like Global Counsel Forum, understanding where legal professionals stand on tech adoption is essential to delivering relevant support, training and resources.
About the In-House Legal Tech Adoption Survey 2026
This survey is designed to capture a clear picture of how in-house legal professionals across the UK are engaging with legal technology right now. Whether you are a general counsel at a FTSE 250 company, a solo in-house solicitor at a scale-up, or part of a growing legal team in the financial or professional services sector, your experience matters.
The survey explores:
- Which legal tech tools in-house teams are currently using or piloting
- The biggest barriers to technology adoption within legal departments
- How technology decisions are made — and who influences them
- The relationship between legal tech investment and team size or budget
- How in-house counsel are upskilling to keep pace with technological change
Who Should Take Part
We are inviting in-house solicitors, general counsel, legal directors, legal operations leads and senior legal professionals working within corporate, public sector and not-for-profit organisations to participate. The survey takes approximately eight minutes to complete and all responses are anonymised.
Results will be shared with the in-house counsel networking community through Global Counsel Forum, helping members benchmark their own team’s approach against peers across the sector.
How the Findings Will Be Used
Aggregated survey results will inform the programming at the SuperPower Summit 2026, Global Counsel Forum’s flagship legal leadership conference, and shape the content delivered through Amicus, GCF’s year-round professional community. Sponsors and corporate partners may also receive access to headline findings to support their own engagement with in-house legal teams.
This is one of the few surveys specifically focused on the experience of Black and underrepresented in-house counsel — a perspective that is frequently absent from mainstream legal technology research.
